They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget,
Lest we forget.
-- Remembrance Day is on 11 November. It is a special day set aside to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars and other conflicts. At one time the day was known as Armistice Day and was renamed Remembrance Day after the Second World War.
I guess it's a big deal here. I thought you were really silly for not knowing but I asked a load of my american friends and none of them knew either. America may have fought in WW2 but it didn't really affect you I suppose - for us there are still effects now.
Remembrance sunday is about commemorating those that fought in WW1 and WW2 as on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns went silent (I think in WW1)
We commemorate those that have died in wars since as well ^_^
