Poppy Stamp by UnicornReality Poppy Stamp by UnicornReality
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget,
Lest we forget.

Remembrance Day is on 11 November. It is a special day set aside to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars and other conflicts. At one time the day was known as Armistice Day and was renamed Remembrance Day after the Second World War.

It's very nice. If I still had a sub. I'd put it in my journal. I'll just have to settle for saying it's nice though I guess. And it is.

I guess it's a big deal here. I thought you were really silly for not knowing but I asked a load of my american friends and none of them knew either. America may have fought in WW2 but it didn't really affect you I suppose - for us there are still effects now.

Remembrance sunday is about commemorating those that fought in WW1 and WW2 as on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns went silent (I think in WW1)

We commemorate those that have died in wars since as well ^_^

November 11th is known as Veteran's Day in the states, it's to honor those who have survived these wars :salute:

I don't mean any disrespect.
I guess the US has too many "dead soldier days" (there's about 6) so it kind of lessens the impact.

I think there should be only one (this one)

I wasn't even aware it had come around..... :blushes:

Don't worry ^_^

England has a longer and richer history and our over patriotic period died with British Inida ;) America are still there but don't worry - it'll calm down in a century or two ;)
