:sing: If you're obsessive-compulsive and you know it wash your hands! If you're obsessive-compulsive and you know it wash your hands! If you're obsessive-compulsive and you know and you really want to show it if you're obsessive-compulsive and you know it wash your hands! :clap:

Although it's made fun of a lot it's not a lighthearted thing - it can be horrific - read up on it here.

I thought I was alone. But I am not. And you're not. :D

Now if you'll excuse me - I'm off to wash my hands, line up my pencils and count things four times.

My hands were bad as a teen; I had to slather them in diaper rash ointment every night and sleep with gloves on. It is nooot a fun time.

That said, having lived through it, this cracked me up. So going on my page when I finally get to my stamps (I'm in the middle of an overhaul :P ). 💚

It's a type of OCD where one obsesses about their relationship, their feelings towards their partner, and their partner's feelings towards them.

Sufferers have many negative feelings and thoughts, like any other OCD subtype.

Thoughts could be for example:

* Do I love him?

* Am I happy with him?

* is he "the one?"

* does he really love me?

There is general anxiety surrounding the relationship.

I am in a relationship atm, and I love my boyfriend very much. He is the light of my life, and he makes me happy. We are together nearly six months. He's not perfect, but I love him more than anything.

If you want to find out more about rOCD here are some links:

www.ocduk.org/rocd

relationshipocd.com/

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relation…

sites.google.com/site/drguydor…

www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthre…

Just because one has rOCD does not mean the relationship is bad, or destined not to work out. Infact, with many rOCDers like me, the thoughts/feelings/urges are so bad because they are not true, and don't reflect how we feel about our partner.

For example, I may feel anxious around my BF, and then a thought (aka My Little FRiend) comes into my head and says "the anxious feeling means you don't like him/don't want to be with him!" which is NOT true, not one bit. I am anxious due to my OCD/GAD - and it intensifies sometimes around him because my OCD is focused on relationships. I get more anxious as a result, and get really upset. The reality is I love him and want to be with him, but OCD twists me around.

I am much better than I was before, but it is still very hard at times but I have good times too :) and the good times are ten times stronger than the bad.

I can see myself being with this guy for life.

Okay, I'm gonna check my stuffs if they're in proper positions, close the faucet again and again, switch on and off the lights and I have to count too 20 times, and oh, I'm gonna stare for some stuffs just for an hour! :la:
Ahhh.. I have to wash my feet, too! :excited:

Sometimes the only thing you can do is laugh at it. :XD: Thanks for this, it's awesome, and it's a good chuckle at something that can get pretty darn sucktacular if you never try to look at a funny side. I just got over a bit of a nasty bump with my OCD, and I wish I'd found this a little sooner.

I have OCD, although it is (mostly) under control now due to medications.

It was at its worst in junior high school. It even affected my grades because of how much I wasted time following rituals instead of answering test questions. That's a time in my life that I do not miss. As of now, my OCD is mostly limited to religion-based concepts like re-saying specific lines during prayer.

Yes but meds alone aren't really good enough, you need to do a lot of re-thinking and re-working yourself and maybe get some therapy.
